Doctor's Day held

As observed across the country, Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch observed National Doctor's Day at IMA House, Lamphelpat under the theme "Wings & Stethoscopes: Healers of Hope" today.
The ceremony was graced by Dr Kh Sulochana Devi, former president IMA, MSB as the chief guest; Dr RK Lenin Singh, president, IMA, MSB as the functional president; Dr Jugindra Sorokhaibam, former president IMA, IMM; Dr A Vivekananda, member, CWC; Dr Shyamkumar Laishram, Director, IMA, CGP Faculty and Dr S Gautam, state secretary, IMA, MSB as the presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Kh Sulochana Devi said that IMA began celebrating National Doctor's Day from July 1, 1992 onwards in honour of the birth and death anniversary of former Chief Minister of West Bengal, physician and freedom fighter Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who was born on July 1, 1882 and breathed his last on July 1, 1962 .
She stated that the goal of IMAMSB is to improve healthcare facilities in Manipur.
Dr Kh Sulochana also spoke about the duties of doctors and treating patients as family members.
Dr RK Lenin asserted that the job of doctors is not merely to cure an ailment but to send the patients back home fully content and happy.
He stressed on the importance of patient care, relieving their suffering and answering their queries.
During the function, six doctors, namely, Dr GS Moirangthem, Dr H Priyosakhi Devi, Dr Ibeyaima Devi, Dr Lokeshwar Khumukcham, Dr Simpson Sareo and Dr Th Tomcha Singh were honoured and encouraged for performing their duties well.
