Ukhrul, February 01 2025:
Tangkhul CSOs have temporarily halted the sit-in protests conducted since Thursday demanding revocation of Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner Kengoo Zuringla's transfer order.
The decision came after Chief Minister N Biren Singh gave a positive response to Tangkhul women leaders yesterday with the assurance that public interest will be kept in priority.
The suspension of sit-in protest came into force on Saturday morning at around 10 am after a meeting of Tangkhul Shanao Long leaders and others led by TSL President Thingreiphy Lungharwo with the Chief Minister resulted in a positive response at Imphal yesterday.
Speaking to a crowd near the DC Quarters at Tangrei, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) vice-president RS Jollyson said that the Chief Minister assured them of an amicable solution to the issue.
However, he requested the CSO team for four days to sort out the matter in consultation with the responsible senior officers of the State.
RS Jollyson further stated that the newly posted DC is not welcome here in Ukhrul and that he will not be allowed to take the administrative charge of Ukhrul district.
It might be mentioned that sit-in protest were held in two different locations in the district headquarters at Mini Secretariat Office Gate Hamleilkhong and Tangrei, Ukhrul pressuring the State Government to retain the incumbent DC .
