Govindas launches Vehicle Yatra at Khoupum

Home Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh today launched a "Vehicle Yatra" and BJP's Booth Level meeting at Khangsinglung Higher Secondary School, Gaidimjang Khoupum, Noney district.
The yatra, held under "Seva Sankalp Abhiyan 2026, saw over 600 vehicles carrying out a rally from New Gangluan Village and reaching villages of Khoupum Valley before concluding at the Gaidimjang meeting venue.
Along with K Govindas Singh, BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary Sarat Kumar, BJP Nungba Mandal president Makuphun Rongmei, HAC Chairman and MLA D Gangmei took part in the programme.
Speaking at the event, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam said that the vehicle yatra was organised under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years of service.
He further stated that Noney district has huge tourism potential which when developed may strengthen the locals economically.
He expressed satisfaction that a detailed project report for development of tourism infrastructure in the district has been sent to the DoNER Ministry.
On the unrest in the State, he stressed that the people, along with leaders of the Churches and civil society organisations, must work together to bring about peace and unity.
Government alone can't bring peace.
The people and all stakeholders must unite and work collectively to restore peace and create conditions for all communities to coexist peacefully again, he added.
He appreciated MLA D Gangmei for bringing development in the region.
He gave credit to the MLA for bringing a new JNV institution, building a Rs 12 crore football gallery and upgrading the water supply scheme.
As a part of the programme, a drawing competition, under the theme "Peace and Harmony", was organised at the Khangsinglung Higher Secondary School.
A total of 19 students from five schools, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Tazei High School, Ideal School, Dreamy Academy and Khangsinglung Hr Sec School took part in the competition.
Health and old age pension cards and blankets were distributed to 100 beneficiaries during the Booth Level Meeting.
Artistes performed songs and traditional dance.
Gaithailiu Kamei, a student of the Ideal School, presented a folk song.
