Imphal, August 30 2025:
An emergency meeting was convened yesterday at the residence of Khurai Assembly Constituency MLA L Susindro Meitei, to address the false and misleading allegations made by PUCL (People's Union for Civil Liberties) in connection with Manipur's ethnic violence.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Clubs and Meira Paibis under Khurai AC.
Speaking at the event, L Susindro Meitei said that PUCL's biased report on the violence in Manipur threatened the hard-earned peace in the State, and endangered the truth.
"It is an agenda-driven document, targeting Meiteis and the BJP Government, and risks deepening divisions in the State", he alleged.
He claimed that the PUCL's account of the Manipur crisis heavily distorts reality by pushing a one-sided narrative that misrepresents the conflict.
"The report sidesteps the established records and facts of organised attacks on Meitei homes in Torbung Bangla and the deliberate arson of forest offices in multiple Kuki dominated districts", said the MLA while adding that the report wrongly claimed that the Meiteis chose to abandon the hills.
"The fact remains that on May 3, 2023, Meiteis were violently driven out from Kuki strongholds like Churachandpur, Moreh, and Kangpokpi, with Kukis fleeing in the ensuing turmoil", he added.
While calling for an urgent scrutiny of the authors of the report, he asserted that relevant authorities and the people must remain vigilant against these anti-national elements.
During the meeting, the citizens of Khurai AC resolved to lodge an FIR against the PUCL.
They also strongly endorsed this position and reaffirmed their commitment to defend the truth and safeguard the dignity of the people of Manipur.
