Imphal, March 30 2010: A five-member team of state police will participate in another round of sitting of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal to be held in connection with the declaration of six underground organisations as unlawful associations scheduled on April 8 and 9 next in Guwahati, an official said today.

The next sitting of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal in connection with the declaration of the six underground organisations as unlawful associations under the provision of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 will be held on April 8 and 9 next in Guwahati, Assam, a public notification issued by the state home department on March 25 last said.

Earlier, the hearing was scheduled to hold in New Delhi on April 1 but it was deferred on April 8 and 9 by changing the venue at Guwahati, Assam.

The hearing will commence from 11 am at Hotel Ashok and will record evidences regarding the declaration of the organisations as Unlawful Associations, the source said.

Five police officers with affidavits probing five organisations which had earlier listed as Unlawful Associations by the Union ministry of home affairs led by superintendent of police-Special Branch, Achin Haokip will take part in the hearing, the source said.

The other four officers who will represent the four valley districts includes DSP Imphal west commando unit, S Ibomcha, SDPO of Moirang in Bishnupur district Md Husne Jaman, SDPO Lamlai of Imphal east, K Meghachandra and SDPO Thoubal of Thoubal district, Lalboi Haokip.

Union Ministry of Home Affairs is banning six underground groups, People's Liberation Army, PLA, and its political wing, the Revolutionary People's Front, RPF, the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and its armed wing "Red Army", the Kangleipak Communist Party, KCP, and its armed wing, also called the "Red Army", the Kanglei Yaol Kanba Lup (KYKL) and the Manipur Peoples' Liberation Front, MPLF including their factions and frontal organizations.

The ministry have declared these six outfits with its factions and frontal organizations as outlaw organisations under the sub-section 1, section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967) from time to time.

The latest declaration was made in January last which stated that they have been declared as unlawful considering their objectives and activities in the state of Manipur.

The banned list of the Union home ministry no longer includes any Naga or Kuki underground organisation.
