Imphal, September 29 2026: Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, and others including Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata have greeted the people on the 130th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat.

Hijam Irawat was a towering personality who made remarkable contributions as a freedom fighter, revolutionary social activist, poet and scholar.

His contributions to literature, sports and the social upliftment of the underprivileged remain an important part of Manipur's history and collective memory, said the Chief Minister in his message to the people.

"His tireless efforts to foster unity and emotional solidarity among people belonging to different communities continue to be remembered with great respect and affection...

Let us remember his ideals and dedicate ourselves to strengthening unity, harmony and social progress for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur," Khemchand added.

Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata and MLA K Robindro Singh too greeted the people, and urged people to follow Irawat's footsteps and work toward bringing peace and harmony, and building a stronger and more inclusive and prosperous Manipur.
