Imphal, October 27 2008: Contrary to the earlier assumption, Laishram Premananda of Sugnu Wapokpi turned out to be one of the five persons shot dead by a combined force of Imphal East Police Commandos and 39 Assam Rifles at Heingang Marjing Ching on the night of October 23 .

The house of one Thokchom Muhindro (50) of Ithai Wapokpi who stays in the IRB post at Sugnu and was allegedly responsible for calling out Premananda from his house had been set on fire by the enraged local people.

According to Laisham Iboyaima, father of the slain Premananda, thinking that his son was the person who was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Sekmaijin Konuma a public meeting held at Wapokpi yesterday has even discussed launching of agitation along with formation of a JAC.

However, on inspection of the body by the family members along with IO of the Heingang incident, it was found out that Premananda was of the five persons killed.

Nonetheless, the family members have vehemently refuted the police charges that Premananda was an underground activist.

The family members said that Premananda had been called out from home in the morning of October 23 by one Thokchom Muhindro (50) of Ithai Wapokpi who stays in the IRB post at Sugnu.

The representatives of the JAC formed in protest against the killing of Premananda yesterday afternoon met SP of Imphal East Th Radheshyam and Works Minister K Ranjit.

Following the assurance given by the SP to investigate into the matter, the family members have taken the body of Premananda after post-mortem at RIMS today.

On the other hand, the body of person who was found shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Sekmaijin Konuma under Kakching Police Station in the morning of October 32 is yet to be identified and claimed by anybody.

According to police, the body would be disposed off if nobody come forward to claim it within October 28.It is said that the slain person appears to be around 23 years of age, 5.3 feet tall, medium built, round face with wheatish complexion and black cropped hair.

He was found clad in grey colour full-shirt, blue colour longpant and a pair of sport shoes.
