Governor Dr SS Sidhu has urged the teachers and students of Don Bosco School, Churachandpur to keep up the Guru-Shishya tradition of ancient times, wherein the gurus played a crucial role in shaping the character of their students.
Speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of the school at Churachandpur today, the Governor noted that the teachers' community along with educating the students must strive to sensitise the young minds to respect the values of the Guru Shishya tradition and the students on their part should devote themselves to their studies so that they can shoulder the responsibilities entrusted on them by the society.
Acknowledging the contribution of the school in pioneering education in English medium in the State, the Governor said that Don Bosco School, Churachandpur has consistently done well at the Board's exams with the students registering pass percentages of 95 percent to 100 percent each year.
Dr Sidhu said golden jubilee celebratin of an institution is an important milestone, as many an educational institutions took shape only to wane away after a short period.
The Governor also acknowledged the role played by the Mission schools in providing quality education to the young students of Manipur and expressed hope that the authorities of the Mission schools will work to their best capacity to keep up the confidence reposed on them by the people.
Many influential spiritual and secular leaders were present at the golden jubilee celebration.
