Nemcha Kipgen lays down plans to combat COVID-19 second wave in Kangpokpi AC
Source: The Sangai Express

Kangpokpi, May 24 2021: Kangpokpi AC MLA, Nemcha Kipgen, the lone woman MLA of the BJP led coalition Government in Manipur, has set an example in combating the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic since its first wave in the district.

In view of the increasing trend of COVID-19 infection in the second wave, Nemcha Kipgen chaired another COVID-19 review meeting with the District Administration, District Police, Medical department and area/village level COVID Task Force under Kangpokpi AC at Conference Hall, DC office Kangpokpi today.

MLA Nemcha Kipgen introduced various strategies to be executed and enforced by the District Administration, Medical department, police and COVID Task Force.

Taking stock of the situation, the MLA reviewed the activities carried out by the area/village COVID Task Force constituted after the first review meeting while ensuring that COVID-19 protocol, advisories and guidelines are strictly enforced as preventive measures in the constituency.

The Area/Village level COVID Task Force informed the MLA of the various activities carried out by the Task Force in the constituency.

The local MLA also announced the temporary appointment of COVID Task Force ambulance's driver to evacuate asymptomatic patients from their home to Community Home Isolation Centre at BJP Office.

The MLA assured that she would bear the monthly salary of the ambulance driver on humanitarian grounds while conveying that the State Government would also provide one Anesthesiologist shortly for COVID Care Centre Leikop.

Nemcha Kipgen also assured to sponsor the fooding cost for any COVID-19 patients from Kangpokpi AC who could not afford their own fooding arrangement while staying at COVID Care Centre.

It may be mentioned that no arrangements for foods have been made by the Government at the CCC.

The District Administration Kangpokpi has been serving food to all the COVID patients at COVID Care Centre Leikop.

The meeting also discussed the mess catering issue at COVID Care Centre and Community Home Isolation Centre for Kpi AC.

In this regard, the local MLA suggested that any willing organization be allowed to open centralized mess service at the two centres to ensure safety for both the patient's family and the public.

However, she cautioned that if centralized mess service is to be opened, it should be carried out with strict compliance to COVID-19 preventive measures.

"As I assured, I will bear the fooding cost of any COVID patients who are genuinely not in a position to afford the cost", asserted the MLA.

"Human lives are more important than anything else during this health crisis, so let us not hesitate to sacrifice ourselves to serve humankind during this pandemic", she added.

Nemcha Kipgen urged the COVID Task Force team to serve humanity sincerely and assured that she would reward any COVID Task Force of the constituency who could minimize the increasing surge of positive cases in their respective areas.

The MLA stated that with the shortage of manpower in the medical department and district police, the role of COVID Task Force has become very important for the safety of the people.

She then instructed the Medical department to equip the COVID Task Force with basic knowledge and skill of preventive measures by imparting awareness on how to safely handle COVID-19 patients.

The MLA also urged the COVID Task Force to assist the medical department in the vaccination programme by collecting Aadhaar cards of the people above the age of 44 years in their respective areas for vaccination while adding that the respective area chiefs, Village Authority shall arrange the required infrastructure and accommodation for the health workers and other frontline workers engaged in the vaccination programme.

DC Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam, IAS, said that the constitution of COVID Task Force in Kangpokpi AC by the local MLA has played a vital role in combating COVID-19 in the district.

He mentioned that the COVID Task Force could also monitor the sealing of containment zones and identification of eligible COVID-19 patients for home isolation.

Besides, considering the role played by the fire service in sanitization, the meeting also decided that the three MLAs of Kangpokpi, Saitu and Saikul AC shall provide fuel to the Fire Sub station.

Later, Nemcha Kipgen provided protective gears including PPE Kits, face masks, gloves, sanitizer, etc to the District Administration, MO incharge of District Hospital Kangpokpi and Kalapahar PHC, Police Department, Fire Service, and the seven COVID Task Force of Kangpokpi AC .
