Hijam Irabot month celebration continues

As part of the month-long celebration of Hijam Irabot's 129th birth anniversary, memorial events were organised at Khurai and Kangmong while a State-level song competition was held at JN Manipur Dance Academy.
At Khurai, the Irabot Celebration Committee Khurai organised an event to honour the revolutionary social activist by offering floral tributes at Ima Laikhutlembi Shanglen.
On the occasion, Committee president RK Amusana blamed the restive situation in Manipur to the lack of a true leader like Hijam Irabot.
On top of celebrating Irabot month, people should also aspire to follow in his footsteps, he added.
As a part of the, meritorious students and senior citizens were felicitated with certificates and simple gifts.
Meanwhile, the Manipur State Council All India Youth Federation conducted the 26th State Level Jananeta Hijam Irabot Sheitha Eshei Competition.
Tampha Chanambam from Keinou Bazar was the top winner of the competition while Ngariyambam Silky Devi from Kwaksiphai Laishram Leikai and Thokchom Lankhomba Meitei from Kongba laishram Leikai bagged the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Additionally, Wahengbam Kritichan from Wabagai Tera Pisak won the 7th Jananeta Hijam Irabot Best Lyrics award.
The prizes will be distributed on September 30 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen as part of the 129th birth anniversary celebration of Hijam Irabot organised by Irawat Celebration Committee (ICC).
Lastly, the Irawat Celebration Committee, Konthoujam Local Council observed the 129th birth anniversary of Hijam Irabot at kangmong Langoljam Farming Hall.
The event was attended by communist leaders Maisnam Joykumar, Okram Ibotombi, Irom Rameshwor and Maisnam Ongbi Sakhi Devi, National vice president of National Federation of India Women.
