One drowns, another found dead

Imphal, August 23 2024:
A 40- year old man drowned in flooded paddy fields at Khangabok Part-III Makha Leikai, Thoubal district while an unknown man in the age group of 35-40 was found dead at Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, Imphal East.
According to a press release issued by the Rising Union Club, Thokchom Ramananda (40) s/o Thokchom Gouramohon of Khangabok Part-III Makha Leikai went to collect fishes trapped in a net laid across a paddy near his house at around 5.30 pm on Thursday.
But the water level of the paddy field rose suddenly and Ramananda drowned.
Even though people present in the nearby area retrieved Ramananda and rushed him to District Hospital, Thoubal immediately, the doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the Officer-in-Charge of Lamphel police station said that an unknown male dead body was found lying on a footpath in front of Hok-Sa shop near 3D Signage Building, Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai in Imphal West this morning.
The deceased of height 5'1" has wheatish complexion, slim body, short hair and beard all over his body.
He was wearing an olive green jacket, olive green long pants and one orange T-shirt.
The body which has already started decomposing has been deposited at RIMS mortuary for identification and to take up necessary action.
The Officer-in-Charge of Lamphel police said that necessary process will be initiated to dispose of the body as per law if no one comes to claim the body by August 28 (Wednesday) .
