MIU International Conference concludes with call for sustainable environmental practices

Imphal, November 22 2025:
The 2-Day International Conference on "Impact of Unregulated and Uncontrolled Use of Chemical Fertilizers and Pesticides on Soil, Fauna, Human Health, and Aquatic & Terrestrial Ecosystems" organised by the Manipur International University (MIU) concluded today at the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Imphal.
The valedictory function was graced by dignitaries, including Dr Vishnu Rajput Dayal, Principal Scientist and Head, Southern Federal University, Rostov-on-Don, Russia; Prof P Kumar Singh, Vice Chancellor, MIU; and Prof T Brajeshori Devi, Registrar, MIU .
In his address, Dr Vishnu Rajput highlighted the grave environmental and health hazards posed by rampant and unregulated use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
He emphasised the urgent need for global scientific collaboration to develop eco-friendly alternatives and to promote integrated soil and ecosystem management.
Prof P Kumar stressed MIU's commitment to advancing research on sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.
He noted that the conference served as a platform for experts to exchange knowledge, share innovative solutions, and build networks for addressing emerging ecological challenges.
Prof T Brajeshori Devi stated that the deliberations held over the past two days will contribute significantly to policy recommendations and academic discourse on environmental sustainability.
The conference featured thematic sessions, expert interactions and networking opportunities, drawing distinguished scientists, professors, and researchers from reputed national and international institutions.
The event concluded with a resolution to promote responsible use of agrochemicals and strengthen interdisciplinary research for ecosystem conservation.
