Imphal, August 22 2026: Headmaster-in-charge of Laikon Upper Primary School, Wanglembam Gobin Singh, has won the National Teachers' Award 2026 .

W Gobin is among 48 school teachers to win the award from across the country, and the only one from Manipur.

President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers' Awards on September 5 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

The 48 award winning school teachers are from 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 organisations of the Central Government.

Of the 48 school teachers, 26 are male and 22 are female.

Wanglembam Gobin Singh hails from Kongba Uchekon, Imphal East, and is the son of Wanglembam Debendro Meitei and Wanglembam ongbi Memcha .

He is Headmaster-in-charge of the school located at Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai since September 15, 2018 .

He has won several awards including Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Ningshing Mana 2025, Chingu Maichou Khongnangthaba Khonga Award 2020, District Award to Teacher 2020, Shiksha Samman Award 2021, and Covid Warrior Award 2021 by DC Imphal East.
