Chandel/Kangpokpi, August 22 2024:
The Purum Pantha (Phaidaam) Village Authority (Chandel) and Ireng Naga (Puiluang) Village Authority (Kangpokpi) have denied reports broadcasted in a local news channel alleging conduct of search operations and recovery of arms and ammunition on August 21 from Purum Pantha village and Ireng Naga village respectively.
Condemning the news report as "false" and "concocted", the Purum Pantha VA press release said that the VA is not aware of the cordon and search operation (CASO) conducted by security forces in the village.
A statement issued by Ireng Naga VA also condemned the news report and denied any CASO taking place in the village jurisdiction which means there is no question of seizure of weapons or empty cases.
While Ireng Naga VA has demanded a clarification from the concerned security forces who allegedly provided wrong information to the media house, the Purum Pantha VA has appealed the concerned authority to investigate the matter and take appropriate action against the allegedly erring security officers to clear any doubt and confusion.
