Imphal, August 22 2010: Alleging that some Manipuri women residing outside the State for different reasons like study and employment are indulging in immoral activities which may give bad impression to the people of other States, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has warned that names of such individuals would be made public if they do not rectify themselves.

MSF added that people across the globe respect Manipuri women for their courage shown during the two Nupi Lans and democratic agitations staged in the State from time to time.

Manipuri women maintain high esteem for having Ima Keithel, world's only exclusive market for women and meira paibi movement, the students body added.

MSF further said, during an investigation, some section of Manipuri women are found indulging in immoral activities outside the State which may harm the prestige of Manipuri women as a whole.

MSF also urged the parents and guardians to check whether their female wards are concentrating on their studies/works or have diverted their minds in indecent behaviour.

Saying that MSF has been investigating the reasons why women from Manipur and North East States often become the victims of rape and sexual harassment outside the State, the students body said that such immoral activities are also one of the main reasons for these harassments.

During the course of investigation, MSF said, many Manipuri women are found having live-in relationship with non-Manipuri and Manipuri male colleagues for long.

Many are also found posing in vulgar poses in mobile phone clippings, which give bad name to Manipuri women, it added.
