Recovered drug users feted

A felicitation programme for individuals who have recovered from drug use and are rebuilding their lives was held today at the JN Manipur Dance Academy Auditorium in Imphal.
The event was jointly organised by MAMTA-HIMC (Mamta Health Institute for Mother and Child), Social Welfare Department, CADAP (Community Allegiance for Drug Use And Appropriate Practices), Vision of Hope.
Spiritual Harbour, Awakening Foundation, Anouba Itinfam, Time to Change, and Yaipokpa.
Social Welfare Director Sheikh Abdul Hakim, Fishery Director T Phulen Meitei, HUMANGMAL director Gopen Moses, and community leader RK Tiken were among the attendees.
Spiritual Harbour founder H Keshorchand urged the Government and stakeholders to focus on sustaining recovery, stating that many return home without support.
He called for policies, schemes, and financial loans to create income-generating avenues for recovered users.
saying such measures should be part of treatment programmes to prevent relapse.
CADAP president Talhellambam Rajeev said unemployment is a major factor driving relapse, and government intervention is crucial for sustainable rehabilitation.
21 individuals who have remained abstinent for more than two years and are now self-reliant were felicitated.
The programme aimed to share their stories and encourage others to rejoin mainstream life.
