Imphal, April 22 2026:
Demanding justice and accountability for the Tronglaobi killings of innocent children and unarmed civilians as well as the killing of two Tangkhul Nagas in the TM Kasom ambush, sit-in protests were staged at Lamlong Keithel, Uyumpok, Patsoi and Kanglatongbi Bazar today.
At Lamlong Keithel, the protest demonstration was jointly organised by Union of Social Upliftment (10 Union), Khurai Lamlong Keithel Phambi Apunba Nupi Lup and meira paibis of the area.
Speaking in this connection, 10 Union general secretary Thokchom Suresh strongly condemned the killing of innocent children and civilians at the hands of Kuki militants and in CRPF firing.
He accused the Central security forces of colluding with armed Kuki militants and further alleged the Central Government of using such Kuki elements to eliminate the indigenous communities-Nagas and Meiteis.
Instead of controlling the crowd of protesters demanding justice and arrest of perpetrators behind the Tronglaobi killings, the Central security forces and Manipur Police personnel beat them up like animals and showered them with tear gas shells and mock bombs.
Such treatment will only fan the fires of protest and further infuriate the aggrieved public, he maintained.
Condemning the Tronglaobi and TM Kasom killings, Uyumpok Meira Paibi, Friends Union Club and Uyumpok Khunjao Development Committee jointly organised a protest demonstration at Uyumpok Khunjao Multipurpose Hall today.
Protesters at the site questioned if the law only exists to stop meira rallies and not to nab the perpetrators responsible for civilian deaths.
They urged the Government to take contrete steps to arrest and award stringent punishment to the culprits.
Slogans were also raised decrying the killings, demanding the Central Security Forces to go back and elimination of Kuki narco terrorists.
A similar protest was organised by Patsoi Part III Meira Paibi and Patsoi Tuliyaima Century Club in front of the Club.
The protesters wielded placards inscribed with words such as "Eradicate Kuki narco terrorists", "No justice, no peace" and "India includes Manipur! Prove it with action, not words" among others.
Later, the meira paibis and club volunteers blocked the road with tree branches and raised slogans demanding removal of Central Security Forces from the State, implementation of NRC and elimination of Kuki terrorists from the soil of Manipur.
At Kanglatongbi Bazar Board, a sit-in protest was organised by Kanglatongbi Meira Paibi Lup today.
As per a press release, the protesters strongly condemned the killing of innocent children and unarmed civilians at Tronglaobi on April 7 and the TM Kasom ambush which took the lives of two Tangkhul Naga men on April 18 .
