Imphal, April 21 2026 :
The 5-day total shutdown imposed in connection with the Tronglaobi killings has entered its third day with road blockades and protest demonstrations in different parts of the State.
The shutdown was imposed with a demand to the Government to nab the perpetrators responsible for the Tronglaobi killings by April 25.While many endorsed the total shutdown and prevented vehicular movement in different regions, the Khwairamband Keithel saw people coming to the market to purchase essential items early in the morning.
However, shops downed their shutters and the place bore a deserted look later on.

Aside from a few private and essential service vehicles, the volume of passenger vehicles on the roads was quite low.
Despite the slow traffic, Traffic police personnel were seen performing their duty at different traffic points.
Majority of Government employees were seen going to work.
Security forces implemented stringent measures to prevent any untoward incidents during the shutdown.
Till the filing of this report, there were no reports of unfortunate events, aside from sit-in protests and road blockades.
It is worth noting that the total shutdown has gravely affected the lives of daily wage earners.
