Imphal, April 21: Offering revolutionary salute to two of its members slain on the April 16 night at Keibul Sangram, the proscribed KYKL said police commandos taking advantage of the existence of numerous underground outfits had led to the casualty.

The KYKL also conveyed its solidarity in the hour of crisis to family members and friends of the deceased Khumanthem Romi alias Basanta (25) s/o (L) Kh Bhubon of Wangoo Sabal Nongyaikhong and Loitongbam Sunil alias Vimo alias albert (28) s/o L Munal of Sekmaijing Khunou Litan Makhong.

Informing that both Basanta and Albert were functionaries of the of the Special Operation Command with the former as the deputy commander, a KYKL statement issued by its publicity and research deputy secretary Apabi Mangang hailed contribution of both Basanta and Albert in the revolutionary movement.

Maintaining that Basanta had served the party for seven years, the statement recalled of Basanta leading an SOC team in the February 16 attack against the 10 Assam Rifles patrol party at Kumbi wherein six AR personnel including a Captain were slain.

On the April 16 incident, it said a four member KYKL team in two motorbikes on an emergency mission were ambushed by Bishnupur district commando killing Basanta and Albert instantly while two other managed to slip away.

Accepting intelligence network goof-up leading to demise of the two, KYKL said its intelligence report only cited presence of other UG activists at the incident site contrary to which the commando party posing as UG elements had been waiting for the ambush.

The fact that numerous UG groups are operating in the State had also emboldened the security forces to capitalise on the situation, it conceded while observing that the commandos� conduct had provided another reason to train guns at State forces.

Insisting upon the police commandos to perceive consequences when the UGs decide to engage them in fire-fight, the KYKL also highlighted the fact that the State forces are not made of metal.
