Imphal, February 21: Doyens of the traditional performing art form of Lairik LibaHaiba were honoured at the occasion of the 53rd awards presentation cum annual function of Shri Shri Govindajiu Bhakti Grantha Kendra Vidyalaya, Imphal held at Mahabali Mandir here today.

The function was attended by Commissioner of Art and Culture P Bharat Singh, president of Theatre Centre, Manipur Naba Wareppa and director of Manipur Ensemble Kshetri Jugindro as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

In their addresses, the dignitaries emphasised on the need for promoting the traditional art form of Lairik Thiba-Haiba.

Doyens of Wari Liba-Haiba who were honoured with gold medals and cash award for the year 2007 are Sanasam Muhon Singh (Lairik Thiba) SorBhusan with Chongtham Jatiswar Singh Gold Medal donated by Gitabali Memorial Trust; Khundongbam Ningkhom Singh (Lairik-Haiba) Rasa Naba with Km Gitabali Devi Gold Medal donated by Gitabali Memorial Trust, Moirangthem Babuchanbi Singh (Lairik-Haiba) BhaktiBhuson cash award donated by B Benimadhop Sharma, Keisham Ibomcha Singh (Lairik Haiba) with Th Amureima Devi Cash Award donated by Km Th Ibemubi Devi, artist of JNMDA; Laishram Ibungo Singh (Lairik-Thiba) with S Chaoba Sharma Cash Award donated by Samurailatpam Ramananda Sharma, Laishram Tomphei Singh (Lairik-Thiba) with Cash award donated by Govindajiu Bhakti Grantha Kendra Vidyalaya, Laishram Bidur Singh (Lairik-thiba) with cas award donated by the Vidyalaya and Takhellambam Shamu Singh (Lairik-Haiba) Pada Bhuson with cash award donated by the Vidyalaya.
