Concerned over various developmental works left undone in Ukhrul district, Deputy Commissioner, Pankaj Kumar Pal, while speaking to reporters at his residence today, categorically urged several agencies engaged in undertaking projects under Border Area Development Project (BADP) 2006-2007 to complete their respective works without any further delay, and informed that an FIR has been filed against 12 agencies for not executing their works as per rules and guidelines.
While informing that the Central Government is willing to invest in the rural areas in various schemes like NREGS, NRHM, SSA etc, Pankaj said, such initiatve could take place only in the districts where there is a congenial atmosphere.
Detailing the number of projects alloted under BADP 2006-2007, the DC said, altogether there are 90 such projects, of which, 60 projects at village levels are in progress, 20 of them are near completion, while 12 projects have been ceased.
Pankaj revealed that he had earlier informed the agencies against whom an FIR has been filed, to assess the problems and take measures accordingly but they were reluctant even to explain their problems for not completing the alloted works.
On asking the progress of NREGS in the district, the DC said, necessary preparations are being made as per legal directive/guidelines and stressed the important role of village headmen/chairmen, NGOs, intellectuals and the public have to play in order to make the scheme a success.
He further informed that Chief Minister O Ibobi would innaugurate the launching ceremony of NREGS on March 24 at Town Hall Ukhrul.
Pankaj also said that other schemes like SSA, Immunisation programme and National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), are in full swing except Litan Primary Health Centre under NRHM, and revealed that a 10 days time has been fixed fixed to complete the work.
