BJP, NDPP want to win polls with help of armed NSCN cadres : Congress
Source: Nirendra Dev *

New Delhi, August 19 2022: The Congress on Thursday slammed BJP and the Modi government for its flip flop on Naga peace talks and went onto the extent of stating that the actions of those in power suggest they were indulging in 'anti national' activities.

Calling the BJP 'dhongi rashtravadi (fraud nationalists)', Congress party's Nagaland in-charge Dr Ajoy Kumar said the saffron party is today "truly a threat to national security" .

"Bengal cash recovery would appear much smaller" .

ED is now the Election Department of BJP Govt.It has stopped probe into Nagaland CM Rio's assets, he said.

"Itna bada amount of money hae...Such huge is the amount of money (Rio's assets) that what was found in West Bengal would appear an humble apology.

Total assets of this gentleman is much more than what was found in Bengal in cash," he told reporters here.

While he said Flag and Constitution could not be negotiated; the assets of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio are much more than what was recovered in Kolkata.

"If they (BJP) win an election and for this, and the country faces some threats, they are okay with it," the Congress in-charge for Nagaland said at AICC special briefing at Congress headquarters in presence of Nagaland pradesh Congress chief K Therie.

"Here is a government which is in connivance to win elections through armed groups; and you are talking about democracy," Kumar said.

"The BJP is using armed groups to win the 2023 Assembly election.

That is why there is no solution to the Naga issue...Is there anything more anti-national than using armed groups to win an election?," Ajoy Kumar asked.

Talking about BJP's announcement of a seat share alliance with the NDPP, the Congress leader said, "If they win an election but the country loses out, they have no problem" .

He also said, lately Nagaland has emerged as 'one state with 18 taxes' in reference to extortion and in total contravention of PM Modi's mission of 'one nation, one tax' .

Kumar alleged that the present Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio takes 'political support' from NSCN-IM.

"The armed cadres of NSCN-IM have always helped the Chief Minister and his party to win elections," he charged adding "that is why we are far off from the solution" .

"The BJP finds winning elections more important than anything else...," he said.

"Again they want to win the election of 2023 with the help of armed cadres of the group" .

"We have upheld integrity of India," says Therie: Nagaland Congress chief K Therie accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of telling falsehoods on the Naga issue.

"The way the BJP government is dragging us...it is unacceptable to the people" .

"Prime Minister of India represents the people of India, how can he lie with the people of India? How can we trust...This is the biggest question," Therie said.

"We who have been upholding the integrity of India and having upheld the Flag of Indian nation in the far north east, we thought the integrity of India is above the political boundaries.

Therefore, we have cooperated and supported settlement.

But BJP is just trying to draw political mileage," Therie accused.

"I would like to appeal to the nation that we elect (want) an honest Prime Minister to lead the nation" .

Answering questions, Ajoy Kumar said, "We have always said there will not be any separate Flag...no separate Constitution, That is our stand....Sawal hi paida nahi hota (There is no question in these)" .

"It is BJP that goes this way or that way at times...," Ajoy Kumar alleged.

"These are non negotiable, Flag is non-negotiable and there can be only one Constitution in the country" .
