Imphal, April 19 2026:
AMUCO and four other organisations namely; AMAWOVA, COHR, MSF and Poirei Leimarol have blamed the State Government's ineptitude and insincerity on the part of the Indian armed forces for the communal conflicts and widespread violence seen in the State.
The five organisations have also vehemently condemned the Killing of two innocent men in a deadly ambush carried out by SoO and non-SoO militants near TM Kasom village along Imphal-Ukhrul road on April 18, 2026 .
A joint statement issued by the five civil organisations asserted that the armed aggression launched by SoO and non-SoO armed militant groups against the innocent people of the valley was pre-planned and a machination of the Government of India in collusion with the State Government.
The murder of two sleeping toddlers in a powerful bomb attack at Tronglaobi on April 7, 2026, inflicting critical injuries to their mother, and the killing of three civilians in indiscriminate firing by CRPF upon a large group of civilians who were protesting against the murder of the two toddlers were all results of the Government of India's policy, it said.
It also cited the attack carried out by an armed militant group upon Naga villagers of Sareikhong village, Ukhrul district.
The five civil organisations have questioned the Government's failure to take up any concrete legal action even after two civilians - Chinaoshang Shokwungnao of Tashar village and Yaruingam Vashum of Kharasom CV village were killed in a deadly ambush upon commuters along Imphal-Ukhrul road at TM Kasom village.
They went on to ask whether handing over such cases to the NIA or announcement of ex-gratia can pacify the enraged public.
The five civil organisations further asked whether the Government is there to provide ex-gratia to victim families of the acts of terrorism perpetrated by SoO and non-SoO armed groups.
They asked the Government to take up concrete legal actions against these armed groups who have been terrorising the masses and killing unarmed civilians including women and children, instead of protecting them.
The five civil organisations for an immediate cessation of the State repression and the excesses being committed by security forces against people protesting in democratic manner for their rights.
Demanding strong actions against the armed groups who have been challenging the unity and territorial integrity of the State every now and then, AMUCO, AMAWOVA, COHR, MSF and Poirei Leimarol have asked the Government to bring out a white paper on the actions taken up so far against these groups.
