Imphal, August 18 2024: A bomb went off near the residential gate of former MLA Nahakpam Indrajit at Kshetrigao Awang Sabal Leikai last night at around 10.30 .

No one was injured in the explosion.

It is reported that the bomb, suspected to be a hand grenade, was lobbed by an unknown miscreant who came in a four wheeler vehicle.

The miscreant fled from the area soon after he lobbed the grenade.

Some portions of the wall and the gate were damaged in the explosion.

Soon after the incident, a team of Porompat police station, State Forensic experts and a bomb squad rushed to the spot and investigated the site of the explosion.

A case has been registered at Porompat police station.

Meanwhile, locals of Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai staged a sit-in protest at Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai Nungthil Chaibi Club Community Hall against the bomb attack at the residential area.

Speaking to the media, one of the protesters stated that they strongly condemn the attack.

She also asked all concerned to clarify the motive behind the attack.

Saying that they want peace, she appealed to all concerned to not carry bomb attacks in crowded areas ever again.
