All set for first phase of Lok Sabha polls tomorrow

Bpr/CCPur/Kak/Kp/Tbl, April 18 2024: With the wrapping up of poll preparations, the State is set to go for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in the 47 Assembly segments which will commence from 7 am tomorrow (April 19, 2024) .

Ahead of the scheduled polling, polling personnel and polling materials have been dispatched for the conduct of elections in various districts across the State today.

Bishnupur

District Election Officer, DEO Bishnupur Lourembam Bikram has flagged off polling officials and security personnel for poll duty in respect of 6 Assembly Constituencies of Bishnupur district today for the first phase of voting of the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 omorrow The polling personnel along with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs)/ Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail VVPATs and other polling materials to be utilized for polling were escorted in over 350 vehicles from the dispersal centre in the Mini Secretariat complex to their respective polling stations by armed security personnel.

The strong rooms of all the six assembly constituencies and special polling stations falling under the district were opened today morning for taking out EVMs and VVPATs.

Mention may be made that the total number of electors in the district as per the final special summary revision 2024 is 1,83,472 (89,209 male, 94,220 female, and 43 transgender) .

There will be 256 polling stations including 22 special polling stations in the district.

The total number of polling personnel deployed on election duty is 1332 including 30 percent reserved, while the total number of security personnel deployed is 2086, including armed and unarmed personnel.

SP Bishnupur Ksh Ravikumar; Additional District Election Officer H Bobby Sharma and other nodal officers of the district were also present during the flag-off.

Churachandpur

Polling personnel and polling materials for 249 polling stations were dispatched by the DEO Dharun Kumar S today in presence of Shaik Mohd Zaib Zakir, SP, Churachandpur; Saurabh Yadav, Additional District Election Officer and AROs.

A total of 289 (two hundred and eighty nine) polling stations have been set up in the district.

These include 4 model polling stations, 15 special polling stations for internally displaced voters, 119 women polling stations and 1 PWD manned polling station.

A total of about 87612 male voters, 95492 female voters and 5 third gender voters will exercise their franchise and participate in shaping the nation's future in four assembly segments of the district.

With the commencement of the 48-hour silence period from 4 pm on April 17, 2024, strict guidelines have been put in place to ensure a free, fair, and smooth conduct of the election.

The DEO expressed his best wishes to all officials involved in conducting the polling successfully and emphasized the importance of proper documentation during the process.

Kakching

With the Phase-I of the 18th Lok Sabha elections, 2024 for 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency slated to be held tomorrow, the District Election Office Kakching is all set to conduct a free and fair election.

Kakching district comprises four Assembly constituencies Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnoo with a total of 1,17,576 voters.

Polling officials and security personnel were dispatched to their respective polling stations.

Polling officials collected EVMs and other election equipment from six counters set up for the four ACs and two for Special Polling Stations at the Public Ground, Thoubal today.

The strong room for storing EVMs at Thoubal DC complex was opened earlier in the presence of Rohit Anand IAS, DEO/DC Kakching District; M Kapajit, ADM Kakching District, AROs, Nodal Officers, and political party representatives.

Altogether 143 polling stations have been set up in the four Assembly constituencies in the district.

5 Special polling stations have been assigned for IDPs staying in various Relief camps (2 for Inner and 3 for Outer).

The special polling stations are also identified for eligible electors not staying in relief camps but otherwise staying with relatives/friends within the jurisdiction of Kakching district.

The District Election authorities have made comprehensive arrangements to ensure free and fair election in the four assembly constituencies, focusing on inclusivity and accessibility for all eligible voters.

Mentioned may be made that the following individu-als/personalities were declared as District icons in connection with the SVEEP activities of Election to Lok Sabha, 2024 for Kakching district.

Narmada Shougaijam (Artist icon), Kishan Nongmaithem (Transgender icon) and Arunkumar Abujam (PwD icon) .

Kangpokpi

Votings will begin from 7 am onwards tomorrow at the 166 polling stations and 24 special polling stations, out of which 4 special polling stations are meant for voters who have been displaced from the 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in Kangpokpi district.

A total number of 103563 voters of the district which includes 51184 male voters, 52378 female voters and 1 third gender voter of the three Assembly segments namely 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu (ST) will vote for the 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency.

The district has 77 numbers of female managed polling stations.

Notably, the second and final phase of the dispersal of the polling officials and security personnel, including Central Armed Police Forces and State Police for the conduct of the first phase polling was completed today from the dispersal centre at Brigadier M Thomas Ground.

Prior to the dispersal of the polling parties, the strong room was opened in the presence of District Election team and representatives of various political parties at 6 am at LFC Hall, DC Complex.

The dispersal process commenced with the careful transportation of EVM machines from the strong room to the Brigadier M Thomas Ground, under the strict vigilance of the security personnel.

More than 300 female polling officials departed to their respective polling stations after receiving poll kits and materials, simultaneously security personnel also moved ahead to their destinations.

Thoubal

Polling parties, polling security personnel and officers/ officials/staff who will be involved in the conduct of the election were dispatched to their respective polling sta-tions/booths today from the Dispatch Centre at Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School.

The poll parties after proper briefing were handed out election materials which were carried in vehicles for dispatch displaying routes and list of polling stations covered by the vehicle.

Ahanthem Subhash Singh, IAS, DC/District Election Officer (DEO), Thoubal along with election officials oversaw the arrangements at the dispatch centre for smooth disbursal of polling personnel to their respective polling stations.

For the district, a total of 248 polling stations have been set up, 123 numbers of polling stations for Inner Parliamentary Constituency and 125 numbers of polling stations for Outer Parliamentary Constituency.

Additionally, two special polling stations for Internally Displaced voters staying in relief camps or otherwise (friends/relatives) have been set up.

Special Polling station at Rice Research Station for voters of 1-Inner Manipur (Gen) Parliamentary Constituency and Special Polling station at YK College for voters of 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency will enable Internally Displaced voters to cast their votes.

A total of 40 polling stations under Thoubal AC will be all-women polling stations and three model polling stations in all 6 AC totalling to 18 model polling stations have been set up.

As per Final Electoral Rolls 2024, there are 2,04,520 (two lakh four thousand five hundred and twenty) voters in Thoubal District.

Male voters constitute 99,243 (ninety-nine thousand two hundred and three) while female voters are at 1,05,262 (one lakh five thousand two hundred and two) .

6 (six) Assembly Constituencies of Thoubal District falling within the jurisdiction of DC/DEO Thoubal will go into poll on April 19 (tomorrow) in the first phase.

Voters of 30-Lilong, 31-Thoubal and 32-Wangkhem will cast their vote for the 1 Manipur (Gen) Parliamentary Constituency while the voters of 33- Heirok, 34-Wangjing and 35- Khangabok will cast their vote for the 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency seat.

In the first phase, polling will be held for the 2-Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency seat at assembly segments of 33-Heirok, 34-Wangjing and 35-Khangabok, 36-Wabagai, 37-Kakching, 38-Hiyanglam, 39-Sugnoo, 41-Chandel (ST), 46-Saikul (ST), 50-Kangpokpi, 51- Saitu (ST), 57-Henglep (ST) and 58-Churachandpur (ST) .
