In another case of highway robbery, passengers of an inter-State bus coming towards Imphal from Guwahati were robbed by some armed persons at Purana Bazar, Dimapur at about 2 am today.
The ill-fated bus belongs to Delta Travels and bears registration number MN-01-1877) .
The passengers were not only robbed of their cash, valuable articles and mobile phone handsets but also of their identity cards.
The robbers numbering about 7/8 were armed with AK rifles.
Besides confiscating Rs 40,000 in cash, one SSB CO and two other persons were robbed of their identity cards, three mobile phone handsets, two ATM cards and one camera.
The SSB CO identified as Y Chaoba was coming home from his place of posting at Baraich area, Uttar Pradesh.
The other two passengers whose identity cards have been robbed are identified as Biaklian and VL Gangte.
Biaklian is an employee of a College under Central Agricultural University located at Gangtok while VL Gangte is a senior auditor of an army unit located at Bidi Bari in Jammu and Kashmir.
Both of them were coming home on leave.
When the passengers asked the robbers to give back their identity cards, the armed persons physically assaulted some of the passengers.
They just left ignoring the appeal of the passengers.
It is reported that the ill-fated bus might be owned by one Ng Yaima of Khurai.
