Kairang residents condemn bomb threat

Residents of Kairang Makha Leikai East and Kairang Makha Leikai West have strongly condemned the despicable act of placing a hand grenade at the residential gate of Thokchom Shankar, a special contractor residing in Kairang Makha Leikai Lane 3, under Heingang Police Station, Imphal East, on December 15 .
According to a release jointly signed by Ningam Siro, chairman of Kairang makha Leikai East and Lungnimpa Anthangmi, chairman of Kairang makha Leikai West, the cowardly act has deeply shocked the peaceful community, which has never been subjected to such violence before.
"This abhorrent incident has instilled widespread fear, anxiety, and distress among the residents, severely disturbing the psychological and mental well-being of families and individuals within our locality", it added.
They asserted that the trauma caused by such actions is immeasurable, and it is unacceptable in any civilized society.
"We unequivocally reject the use of violence and threats in any form as a means of resolving conflicts or pursuing objectives.
The act of placing a bomb is not only a criminal offense but an outright threat to the safety, security, and lives of innocent people.
Such acts of terror have no place in our community or any society that values peace and human dignity", it added.
They also demanded the authorities concerned to take immediate action to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for this heinous crime.
"The perpetrators must be held accountable for their actions to ensure that such events are not repeated", it added.
Calling upon the armed groups suspected to be involved in such activities to cease these destructive actions, residents of Kairang area appealed to the party involved to embrace peaceful, lawful means of addressing grievances, and work towards resolving differences through dialogue, understanding, and respect for one another.
"The Kairang Makha Leikai East and Kairang Makha Leikai West stand united in our condemnation of this criminal act and demand swift and just action.
We remain unwavering in our commitment to maintaining peace, safety, and the wellbeing of every member of our community", it concluded.
