Imphal, September 16:
An elderly man said to be a 'guide' in Kangla Laiphamlen (sacred site) has been punished today with two bullets pumped at both legs for allegedly committing three rape offences.
The man who was pulled up and punished by activists of the UNLF's Central special force (CSF) is identified as RK Manisana (63) of Singjamei Kshetri Leikai.
Parading the accused before media persons at a Bishnupur district location today, a CSF spokesman said the self-styled guide raped a housewife on August 5 at around 2 pm inside a shed in the sprawling complex.
The culprit is said to have taken undue advantage of the woman's sudden mental breakdown on that particular day.
The victim woman, who is from Lamlai kendra, is informed to have complained to the CSF of Manisana attempting to outrage her modesty on a previous occasion also, according to the spokesman who further added that the aged culprit was hauled up from near Singjamei Thongkhong this morning.
Manisana is also alleged to have raped two other women in the past.
While one of the victim is from Keirao AC the other hails from Oinam kendra.
Explaining that shooting on the legs is a punishment of lighter version with repeated offence likely to evoke the most stringent form, the spokesman also left it to the wisdom of the Kangla religious site body to further reprimand Manisana or not.
Meanwhile, information culled from police source said an injured Manisana was found abandoned near Leimaram Parking at around 5.30 pm today.
Quoting eye-witnesses, the source informed of two Kinetic Hondaborne youths bringing Manisana and shooting him in the knee area.
Nambol police personnel who picked up the injured man has admitted him to RIMS Hospital.
