Imphal, June 16 2024:
Altogether four shops were ravaged by fire and two of them were reduced to cinders last night at Langpok Lamlong, Nambol, Bishnupur district.
The fire started in one of the shops at around 11 pm and it spread to the adjoining shops.
It is suspected that the fire was caused by an electric short circuit.
One shop belonging to Nongthombam Indramani which dealt in yarn and another shop jointly run by Nongthombam Samita and Nongthombam Anil which dealt in garments and jewellery items were reduced to cinders by the fire.
The other two shops which were partially damaged belong to Paonam Somokanta and Oinam Ingo.
While Paonam Somo- kanta's shop deals in paints, Ingo's shop is a chicken centre, sources said.
On receiving information about the fire, fire tenders from Nambol Fire Sub-Station rushed to the spot and struggled to put off the fire, and they were assisted by volunteers of the Nambol unit of Arambai Tenggol.
