Imphal, May 16:
Alleging that some of the questions asked in the district level Mathematics competition held on February 24 this year under the aegis of the Bishnupur District Mathematics Association were exactly similar to some questions asked in the HSLC Examination 2007, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has sought clarification from the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) before declaration of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination, 2007.The Mathematics paper of HSLC Examination 2007 had some questions exactly similar to some questions asked in district level Mathematics competition held at four centres Nambol, Bishnupur, Moirang and Ningthoukhong including serial number and marks allotted, asserted secretary general of the student body LC Santosh.
The question nos 11, 12, 23 and 24 asked in the competition were also asked in the BSEM Mathematics paper in the same sequence carrying the same marks, he elaborated.
Questions carrying 20 marks were exactly equal, he observed.
Moreover, some other questions carrying 26 marks in aggregate were found to be quite similar except for sequence and sentence construction, the student leader added.
Altogether, questions carrying 46 marks were strikingly similar.
Expressing serious doubt of question paper leak of Mathematics paper set by BSEM, Santosh demanded that the BSEM should clarify the matter before the result of HSLC Examination 2007 is declared.
He further appealed to the authority concerned to take up befitting actions against the Board in case the similarity in the questions papers turned to be a result of some foul play by BSEM officials.
