78th Naga I-day celebrated across Manipur

The 78 th Naga Independence Day was celebrated across all districts in Manipur today.
At the Brig Sirohi Ground, Tumuyon Khullen in Senapati, the Naga Independence Day was celebrated with RH Raising, member of the Collective Leadership, GPRN as the special guest.
The event was organised by the United Naga Council, Naga Women's Union and All Naga Students Association, Manipur and hosted by the Naga People's Organization.
The celebration echoed solidarity messages brought at the gathering by the Naga Hoho, Naga Mothers' Association, Naga Students' Federation, Naga People's Movement for Human Rights and Global Naga Forum.
As a part of the celebration, a friendly football match was played between the National workers and the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM).
The match ended in a 3-3 draw.
Poumai community celebrates
The Poumai Naga community in Senapati also celebrated the 78th Naga Independence Day at Poumai Naga Union office.
RB Pani, president of the Poumai Naga Union honoured AZ Phizo, father of Naga Nation, and hoisted the Naga National flag.
PNU advisor RK Kaba, executive secretary of PNBA Rev Dr P James, students and leaders of the community attended the celebration.
Ukhrul
In Ukhrul, thousands of Tangkhul turned out to celebrate the 78th Naga Independence Day held at district Headquarters ground at Wino Bazar.
Tangkhul Naga Long president Sword Vashum hoisted the rainbow Naga flag as the chief guest of the independent day celebration.
Addressing the gathering, Sword Vashum deliberated on the Naga National movement and the responsible duty of the Naga citizens, and advocated for "right to self determination and freedom from suppression and domination".
The gathering observed a minute of silence in honour of Naga martyrs, and a special prayer for the Naga National workers was also pronounced by Rev Somi Kasomwoshi, Pastor of Ukhrul town Baptist Church.
W Sayai and Guru Rawung among others attended the event Altogether 38 contingents of students from 18 schools of Ukhrul town participated in the Naga Independent Day parade.
The day was also celebrated in various locations of Ukhrul district.
Imphal
The Imphal Naga Forum (INF) celebrated the day at its office under the theme "Rejuvenate Nationalism, Lest we Forget" with the participation of well known personalities from different fields.
Ambition Anth, convenor of the Imphal Naga Forum; Gaingam Gangmei, former UNC president and convenor of Peace Committee, UNC; and Daniel Ramsan, Senior Advocate of Manipur High Court attended the celebration.
Liangmai community celebrates
Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (MN), a conglomerate of all Liangmai students in Manipur and Nagaland, along with MZR and Namdilong Youth Club, Kanglatongbi celebrated the day with a bike rally under the theme "Ride for Peace and Harmony" .
In a statement, the Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (MN) said the Indo-Naga peace talk should be fruitful to grant the sovereign rights of the Nagas.
It said the Constitution (Yeh za bo) and the Naga National Flag must be respected and integral to any solution.
