Imphal, October 13 2008:
Alleging that the Congress party has been undertaking a hate campaign against BJP in hill districts by hiring church leaders, BJP National executive member and ex-MLA M Bhorot has demanded an immediate halt to the campaign.
It is unfortunate that the Congress party hired church leaders to speak at block level Congress workers' conferences in hill districts against BJP with loathsome remarks in the backdrop of the communal clash between Christians and Hindus in Orissa.
Speaking to reporters today, Bhorot decried the alleged act of imprecating BJP as if it was their adversary by hiring pastors during the Congress workers' conference held at Senapati Indoor Stadium and while giving sermon at Rikhumai Baptist Church, Taphou.
It was quite unfortunate for the Congress party to use churches as political halls in their hate campaign against BJP only for the sake of the forthcoming Parliamentary election, he remarked.
Calling upon church leaders to know that all Christians are not Congress supporters just as all Hindus do not support BJP, Bhorot said that there were many Christians within the fold of BJP.
He further appealed to the church leaders to maintain sanctity of churches by keeping political influences at bay.
