The World Organ Donation Day was observed today at Shija Hospital on the theme "Answering the Call" with Health Services Director Dr Chambo Gonmei as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Dr Chambo Gonmei said it is a matter of pride that Manipur is at the top among the North Eastern States in terms of organ donation.
The Health Director expressed keen desire for the private hospitals to reduce hospital charges to some extent.
He also hailed Shija Hospital for successfully transplanting organs like kidney, cornea etc.
Saying that the hospitals of Manipur are comparable to the hospitals of other States, Dr Chambo Gonmei said that the number of patients from other States coming to Manipur for diagnosis and treatment has declined due to the State's restive situation but things will improve soon.
