Thadou bodies back Imp-Moreh road bandh

Thadou bodies � comprising of Thadou Inpi, Thadou Women Association, Thadou Students' Association and Thadou Youth Association � today decided to enforce the indefinite bandh imposed by JAC against the murder of M Jamkholal Zou along Imphal-Moreh section of National Highway if the State Government fails to address the demands of the JAC.
The Thadou bodies announced its support and endorsement of the demands of the JAC against the murder of M Jamkholal Zou alias George who was allegedly abducted and killed at Moreh on July 2 by cadres of the Kuki National Organization, a SoO signatory with Government of India and Manipur.
Thadou bodies' spokesperson, Henkai Singsit said that the kind of cold blooded murder and diabolic act among armed groups within the community, especially not long after a peace agreement between the rival parties has been reached and solemnized, is highly condemnable while recalling that Jamkholal's decomposed body was found in Myanmar's Menal river on July 6 after several days of intense search by community leaders and family members.
He also alleged that Jamkholal family had registered an FIR in the police station on July 7.However no action has been taken till now against the perpetrators of the crime.
As a result of Government's inaction, the JAC has been compelled to impose an indefinite bandh along Imphal-Moreh section of National highway since midnight of August 10 .
He further said that the restraint and non-retaliatory posture maintained by the UPF/UKLF over the murder of their cadre is praiseworthy.
However, the Thadou bodies said that the Government's failure to take any action according to the law of the land till now sends a wrong message as it could be perceived as it (the State Government) is instigating rivalry and retaliatory attacks between different SoO groups, putting the hard-earned peace in jeopardy, and sabotaging the peace process between the Government and Kuki SoO groups.
Under the SoO pact, the the first political dialogue started at New Delhi on June 15, 2016 after much ground work for many years.
The Thadou bodies also appealed to all Kuki armed groups to shun hostility and violence and respect the peace agreement and people's sentiments, and strive for peace and realization of the aspiration of their people through democratic and political process, not through violence.
While urging the State Government to meet the demands of the JAC and deliver justice as soon as possible in view of the hardships faced by public due to the bandh, the Thadou bodies warned that it will be compelled to enforce the JAC bandh along Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur sections of National Highway if the Government fails to act accordingly.
