Imphal, April 11 2025:
Five clubs, two women organisations and the local residents have collectively raised a call to all to refrain from interfering with Keystone Company's road construction works at Top Dushara in Imphal East District.
The appeal was made by Eastern Sporting Association (ESA), Top Awang Leikai; Oriental Pioneer Association (OPA), Top Makha Leikai; Top Youth Club (TYC), Top Mayai Leikai; Social Athletic Club (SAC), Top Mayai Leikai, Nehru Memorial Club (NMC), Top Awang Leikai; Top Awang Leikai Mahila Mandal and Top Sagolshem Pukhri Mapal Women Development Association, informed T Parijat, advisor, ESA during a press briefing held today at Ima Nongmailembi Shanglen, Top Awang Leikai.
Addressing the gathering, he accused certain powerful individuals of obstructing the road construction at Top Dushara in Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency carried out as a Central project under the Manipur Urban Road Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project (MURDAMIP) .
He said that this does not entail the construction of a simple black topped road, but resilient rigid concrete roads after the building of local side drains.
According to T Parijat, Keystone Company began renovation of the long neglected road on March 6, but on March 8 some unknown persons objected and restricted the construction work.
When construction resumed on April 10, the same group once again allegedly blocked the developmental efforts.
Even though local residents watched over the Keystone Company team to ensure that the renovation work continued, the unidentified group opposed the construction work and escalated the issue to the top officials at PWD, claimed T Parijat.
Questioning the motive of the unknown individuals for blocking the road renovation work, he pointed out that the people of the region all want the road to be repaired.
The ESA advisor further asserted that Keystone Company should not stop the construction work based on the objections expressed by some unknown persons.
In turn, the unidentified group should stop obstructing the developmental work, he said.
If the Central project is transferred to another area due to the repeated objections raised by the group, then the consequences of such a move should be borne by the group, said T Parijat.
The public will also never accept such a move, he added.
