Imphal, January 11 2010: India government will allocate 100% assistance to the naxal affected states under Modernization of Police Force (MPF) as action plan to deal with naxalites during the year 2010-11 .

Within the overall MPF allocations, 100% central assistance to naxal affected district in the identified states at the rate of Rs 2 crore per district is proposed to be extended, intimation provided to the state governments by the union ministry of home affairs dated December 30, 2009 stated.

Other states of the country has also been asked to prepare their respective annual action plans under MPF schemes and submit the same to the ministry on or before January 22 so as to present before a High Powered Committee.

A meeting of the High Powered Committee meetings under the chairmanship of special secretary, MHA to consider annual action plans of states under MPF scheme for the year 2010-11 from February, 2010 onwards and to complete the process by February 26 .

The action plans pertaining to the eight North Eastern States-Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are to furnish to their formulated action plan to the joint secretary (NE) of MHA.

Union ministry of home affairs has informed naxal affected states to formulate action plans for the 2010-11 in accordance with the guidelines which the ministry provided to the states, official source here said Sunday.

State government while formulating the action plan, a priority component for naxal affected district(s), identified as severely affected should be reflected.

The proposal should adequately cater to the securing and strengthening of police stations in naxal affected district in the identified states.

While preparing the plans, state governments should lay greater emphasis on procurement of modern gadgetry, sophisticated equipments, advanced weapons, security equipment/vehicles, technology up-gradation of communication and other facilities to deal with immediate issues of internal security more effectively instead of Police Housing.
