Imphal, November 09 2010: Although the results of the controversy marred DPC had been announced at long last, appointment of the recommended medical officers and dental surgeons in staff-crunched State Health Services Deparrment seem to have run into yet another problem leading to delay in issuing appointment orders to the recommended candidates.

After the DPC, Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has recommended appointment of 329 Grade-IV officers (medical doctors) and 39 dental surgeons in the State Health Services Department, the functioning of which has remained crippled following shortage of doctors and other medical staff.

Among the 329 medical officers who have been recommended by the MPSC for appointment, there are 87 OBC candidates while among the recommended 39 dental surgeon, the number of OBC candidates is 10 .

The results of the DPC conducted by MPSC for appointment of 329 Grade-IV officers (medical doctors) and 39 dental surgeons in the Health Services have been announced after long delayed on October 25 .

In the merit list of the DPC, MPSC has put the remarks of 'Provisional pending verification of OBC certificate' against the 87 OBC candidates who are among the recommended medical officers and 10 other OBC candidates among the recommended dental surgeons.

Along with declaration of the DPC results, MPSC had also written to the Commissioner of Health making it clear that appointment of OBC candidates should be done only after verification of their respective OBC certificates.

Prior to declaration of the DPC results, MPSC had conducted an inquiry into the claim of some OBC candidates whose parents are holding high posts in Government service.

Accordingly, the related certificates have send to the Deputy Commissioners concerned for verification.

Even though the Deputy Commissioners have submitted their respective reports confirming that the said OBC certificates are genuine, MPSC has given its remark of subjecting the recommended OBC candidates to verification before appointment so as to avoid any legal complication in the future.

Sources in the Health Services Department disclosed that so far no definite decision has been taken with regard to issuing appointment orders to recommended 329 medical officers and 39 dental surgeons nor on verification of the OBC certificates.

Following the recommendation of the MPSC, normal procedure for appointment is underway, sources said, while pointing out categorically that verification of the OBC certificates is the sole responsibility of the Deputy Commissioners concerned.
