New fleet added to Manipur Fire Service

The Manipur Fire Service has received a new fleet of 18 firefighting and rescue vehicles.
Brought under the 15th Finance Commission for expansion and modernization of the Fire Service, the firefighting and rescue vehicles were launched by N Ashok Kumar, Commissioner (Home) at the Manipur Fire Service Headquarters, Imphal yesterday.
Imphal West DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar, CRPF 143 Battalion Commandant Ravindra Sharma, Joint Secretary (Home) Mayengbam Veto and Manipur Fire Service Director L Nabachandra attended the launch ceremony.
14 of the fire tender vehicles have search and rescue equipment.
One has piercing facilities and three of them have water mist technology.

It is part of a larger plan to modernise the Fire Service in all districts of Manipur.
The new fleet of the fire tender vehicles will significantly improve the Fire service in firefighting and handling other emergency services, said N Ashok Kumar, Commissioner (Home).
Further, there is also a plan to train personnel of the police, NDRF and SDRF on the operation of the new and advanced fire tender vehicles, he added.
A newly constructed store room of the Fire Service was inaugurated at the event.
Fire service personnel gave a demonstration of the new fleet of vehicles, equipped with advanced firefighting capabilities.
