Imphal, April 09 2025: Khailun Haokip, chief of Thawai Kuki in Phungyar Block, Kamjong district, resigned from the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and its armed wing, the Kuki National Army (KNA) .

He stepped down from his position as Lieutenant on February 13, 2025 .

The declaration read, "I Khailun Haokip, Chief of Thawai Kuki, Phungyar Block, Kamjong District, hereby declare that I am no longer associated with the KNO/KNA.

I resigned from my position as Lieutenant (Army No.00132) on 13th February 2025, as per Ref.

No.ZG/KNA 02/23, and have been officially relieved from my duties" .

Meanwhile, the KNA declared that Khailun Haokip has been relieved from his duty.

"Lieutenant Khailun Haokip is, hereby, relieved from KNA as his elderly father needs looking after at home.

His contribution to the KNA is appreciated On behalf of his former colleagues and the organisation, I wish him best wishes," the statement of KNA read.
