Thoubal, February 08 2025:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) has urged visitors at Khongjom War Memorial Complex to refrain from consuming alcohol and exhibiting distasteful behaviour.
Th Manihar, president, FOCS has warned that sightseers found engaging in such activities henceforth should be held accountable for their actions.
He made the statement during the conclusion of a mega social service camp held at the Complex since December 15, 2024 organised by the Manipur People's Development Front (MPDF) and FOCS Thoubal District.
Notably, Th Manihar urged the State Government to consider setting aside a special budget for the Complex in the upcoming State Assembly session.
Highlighting the significance of the site in the history of Manipur, he urged visitors to avoid defiling the place and sought increased supervision of the Tourism Department over the Khongjom War Memorial Complex.
Stating that the Government neglects the Complex except on Khongjom Day, he called for an end to such conduct and appealed for regular upkeep of the Complex by setting aside a special budget during the Assembly session.
