Imphal, November 07 2012: The pandemonium over the construction of the Mapithel Dam continues with both opposing parties engaged in hurling mud.

Mapithel Dam Affected Villages Organisation (MDAVO) has opted for a more conservative approach and ready to go along slowly as against the Mapithel Dam Multipurpose Project Displaced Villages Committee (MDMPDVC) .

Giving a press conference after a slew of charges made by MDAVO in the last few weeks, president of MDMPDVC M Ngaranmi assured that household counting was strictly adhered to as per Hill House Counting and allay all fears in a press conference today at Manipur Press Club today.

However, the other organization, working beside the deputy commissioner of Ukhrul is all set to go ahead with the project rubbishing the claim of the MDAVO as unfounded.

Clarifying the deployment of security forces as pre-emptive measure s against the MDAVO threat, it clarified that no persons from anywhere has been hired for the purpose of verification as proxy.

Submergence of areas as claimed by MDAVO is blown out of all proportion, said leaders of the organization and further rubbished the Expert Review Committee (ERC) as not practicable.

The organization has come out strongly against MDAVO as 'opportunists', trying to take double benefit and termed their efforts as to get Lamlai Khunou and Chadong village submerged and then begin their nefarious activities of drawing sympathy from all concerned to as part of their pipe dream.

The claim of the MDAVO that the security forces were harassing the villagers is unfounded, but terming such acts as a dirty act to tarnish the blameless image of the security force, rendering yeoman service as most unfortunate, he apologized.
