Imphal, October 07 2026: The Pambei-led UNLF has condoled the demise of its cadre, Sergeant Singa Altaf alias Morte.

According to a press note issued by the secretary of the outfit's Department of Publicity and Education, Altaf died of malaria.

He was born to S Islamudin and Marry on May 11, 1991, at Moreh Ward No 7 (Heinou Makhong).

The outfit said Altaf joined the organisation in 2016 and underwent basic military training from November 28, 2016, to February 21, 2017 .

It added that he had served as a non-commissioned officer for over eight years in the 291st Battalion of the outfit.

The outfit further said that its medical staff made every effort to save Altaf, but he succumbed to the illness due to the lack of adequate treatment facilities and public hospitals in the nearby areas.

It added that Altaf died while preparations were underway to take him to a better-equipped medical facility.

Saying that Altaf had played a major role in the freedom struggle of Manipur, the outfit paid tribute to him for his dedication and sacrifice.

It further said that Altaf was a calm and hardworking person who always respected and followed the instructions of his seniors.
