Imphal, July 07 2026: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today convicted a homeless person identified as Md Ali alias Imtiyas (25) for stealing battery of an autorickshaw yesterday afternoon and sentenced him to undergo one month community service in and around City police station.

Md Ali originally hails from Lilong Chingjao, and is living on the streets of Imphal.

He was caught red handed stealing the battery of the vehicle parked in front of Manipur Fire Service yesterday.

In the Court, Ali admitted to stealing the battery and pleaded guilty.

The Court then convicted Ali and sentenced him to perform community service in and around the City PS for a period of one month, starting tomorrow.

The Court further ordered the Probation Officer to send the convict to a rehabilitation centre after completion of community service period.
