Awareness programme on "Drug Addiction and Substance Abuse" held at Ukhrul

The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL) Youth Council organised a three-day awareness and education programme on "Drug Addiction & Substance Abuse" at Jubilee Hall Kamphasom, Ukhrul.
Dwelling on the theme "Embrace Life, Not Drugs ", the president of TMNL, Ringphapam Kasar stated that the awareness programme was organised with the aim to educate the students on the ill effects and menace of substance abuse to the society and individual.
The president TMNL said that the three days awareness programme was held accordingly with the targets age group.
The first and second day of the awareness programme is organised for the students reading in classes -IX and X while the third day on 8th (Thursday) is reserved for active users & OSD clients of Ukhrul and will be held at District Hospital.
The District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) will be enlightened on legal points that are punishable as per the law.
Speaking as resource persons, Rev Ngayailei Lunglo, Women Counselor, Grace Upliftment Ministry and Arthur Shimray, Managing Director, Life Care elaborated on the topic "don't abuse God's creation and choosing positivity in order to overcome the challenges faced in life," and further "to abstain from using drug addiction and substance abuse among young people, families, and the society as a whole".
An interactive and question hour session for in-depth understanding of the "ill impact of drugs in personal life as well as in the society" was also held during the programme.
The awareness cum education programme witnessed participation from 12 schools of Ukhrul town, demonstrating collective support in the movement for a drug-free district.
