A high-level committee headed by Additional DGP (Intelligence) Ashutosh Kumar Sinha as Chairman has been formed to critically examine and study the drones deployed by Kuki militants in Manipur.
DGP Rajiv Singh issued an order to this effect on September 2 .
The other members of the five-member committee are GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen SS Kartikeya, IGAR (S) Maj Gen Ravroop Singh, CRPF (M&N Sector) Vipul Kumar and SHQ BSF CI (Ops) Manipur DIG JK Birdi.
In an unprecedented attack at Koutruk, Imphal West on September 1, Kuki militants had deployed numerous RPGs using high-tech drones in which one lady civilian died and several others including three police personnel were injured.
In order to critically examine and study the drones deployed by these militants including collection of all relevant evidence, specification of the drones used and how to effectively counter such drones, a high-level committee has been formed, said the DGP's order.
The committee may co-opt technical members as deemed fit and it shall submit its report to the office of the DGP by September 13, it added.
