Imphal, August 03: Two Shumang Leela scripts and two drama scripts of noted playwright Manaobi MM, produced in book form, was released during a simple function held at JN Manipuf Dance Academy here today.

Speaking as chief guest at the occasion, noted lyricist B Jayantakumar said that Shumang Leela is also a component of literature.

He noted that Shumang Leela has a large following in Manipuri society and popular among both literates and illiterates alike.

However, publication of Shumang Leela scripts in book forms is very rare, he lamented.

Publication of popular and good Shumang Leela scripts in book form would go a long way in earning its right place in Manipuri literature, Jayantakumar stated.

The Shumang Leela and drama scripts released today in book form included Khangle (Shumang Leela), Aruba Eechel (Shumang Leela), Ningtambagi Mahao (drama) and Nongallakpa Ngaiba Amasung Eche (drama).

The function was also attended by Prof Nongmaithem Tombi as functional president.

The function culminated with the screening of Pilu Films' Liklai written by Manaobi MM.
