Imphal, July 03 2025:
The Indigenous Youth Association, Kangleipak (IYAK), Kakching District Committee has sought the attention of the Director of Education (S) to address the absence of teachers at Arong High School and officials who are reportedly neglecting their duties.
According to a press release issued by IYAK-Kakching District Committee, the IYAK team went on an inspection visit to Arong High School today where 118 students are enrolled from pre-primary to Class X.It has 7 teachers, including the Headmaster.
When the IYAK team reached the school, the Headmaster had already left.
None of the remaining 6 six teachers were present at the school.
Upon asking the students, the team was told that the 6 teachers come to the school 2/3 times a month.
The students were being taught by eight teachers from the locality.
A portion of the 6 teachers' salary went to the hired local teachers, the team was told, according to the statement.
They called up the Headmaster during their visit, but failed to receive any cooperation from his side.
Following this, they reached the ZEO's office a little after 1.30 pm and spoke to a Circle AI as the ZEO was not present.
The IYAK team urged the official to summon the teachers for a dialogue.
Instead, they were allegedly told to visit the school the next day and speak with the teachers and come to an agreement.
Terming the suggestion as unfortunate, IYAK-Kakching District Committee said that the Circle AI has failed to carry out his assigned duty and use the power given by the Government.
Thus IYAK has urged the Director, Education (S) to address the absent teachers, the Circle AI and ZEO, who are reportedly shirking their responsibilities.
It is worth noting that lYAK-Kakching District Committee launched the inspection on July 1 to assess the challenges faced by students and teachers in schools under their jurisdiction.
