Beekeeping training programme held

The All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Honeybees and Pollinator, College of Agriculture (CAU), Imphal, successfully conducted a training programme on "How to become a Beekeeper: Developing Knowledge and Skills under NEH programme" at the varsity's Integrated Beekeeping Development Centre (IBDC) training hall on February 25, 2025 .
The programme was attended by Dr Nilima Karam, Principal Investigator, AICRP, College of Agriculture (COA), CAU, Imphal; Dr P Bhumita, Co-principal Investigator; Dr Kh Gayatri, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture, COA, CAU, Imphal; Dr Jeti Konsam, Assistant Entomologist (Maize) and Arambam Suchitra Devi (bee professional) as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nilima Karam said that beekeeping is an increasingly popular and profitable venture in India as the demand for honey and other bee-related products continue to rise.
She asserted that the programme was conducted with the aim to provide basic training on beekeeping to the unemployed youths so that they may generate a sustainable income & improve their socio-economic condition.
Dr Nilima Karam also urged the trainees to pay special attention to the experts who will be imparting valuable information on beekeeping during the programme.
Certificates and bee boxes were also distributed to the participants.
