Imphal, March 30 2018: The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), one of the Kuki Armed UG group who signed a tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) Agreement with the Union Government and State Government Celebrates its 23rd Raising Day 2018 under the theme "Re-Unification" at the designated Muvanphoi Peace Camp in Chandel District on Thursday.

At the outset of the Celebration, UKLF's Vice-Chairman KT.

Misao unfurled the Organisation flag followed by a condolence salute for the departed souls of the leaders and brave Kuki Army who laid down their lives for the nation.

After Chief Organiser Helun Haokip delivered a welcome address, Home Secretary Anthony Thadou read out the Raising Day Message from UKLF's Supremo.

In his message, SS Haokip, Chairman of the UKLF extended his best wishes and the 23rd Raising day greetings to all the Officers, cadres, well-wishers and also pays his respect to the departed souls of those Kuki Army who gave their lives for the cause of the nation.

The UKLF's Supremo further stated that Our fore-fathers bravely fought against the British to protect our land.

But, due to their short sightedness, we have suffered till today.

So, it is a time for us to stand unitedly and march forward undeterred until we achieve our political goal so that let our younger generation not suffer as we do today, he added While highlighting about the present Political Movement and its impact, UKLF's Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) Chairman Jacob Haokip stated that the organisation was formed way back in 1995 under the leadership of SS Haokip to protect our land.

Since then, the Organisation also worked for the re-unification of the 22 kindred tribes of the Kuki besides protecting our land.

And many leaders and cadres of the organisation laid down their valuable lives for the cause of our nation.

It was in 2008, a tripartite Suspension of Operation (SoO) Agreement was signed with the Central and State Government for a political solution.

So far, six rounds of Political Talk was held with the Government where both United People's Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO) placed a demand for separate political administration/Territorial Council within the State.

Such political demands were not raised in the interest of a particular armed group but for the welfare of the Kuki nation as a whole.

As such, all must lend your moral support towards the Organisation to acheive our Political Goal at the earliest, added Jacob Haokip.

A part from exhibition of spectacular cultural dances from Zou Cultural Troupe and Thadou Cultural Troupe, red blankets were also distributed to all the village chiefs as a mark of the celebration.

Beside several high ranking officers of the Organisation, large numbers of villagers of the surrounding villages, Village Chiefs, Church leaders and leaders of Civil Society Organisations also attended the Raising Day celebration.
