Imphal, August 28 2026: The State Cabinet has approved the implementation of the 'Women Empowerment (WE)-- Manipur Scheme' under which a grant of Rs 10,000 will be given to 3.5 lakh women in the State who are members of recognised Self Help Groups (SHGs) .

With Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand in the chair, a Cabinet meeting was held at the CM Secretariat, Babupara today and it gave the nod to the implementation of the WE--Manipur Scheme. Under the scheme, members of recognised SHGs will receive Rs 10,000 each as grant in the first year followed by interest free loans in the second and third year.

The State Cabinet gave in-principle approval to the 'Manipur Police Special Recruitment Scheme for Meritorious Sportspersons, 2026' .

It is said that this scheme will provide a structured mechanism for recruitment, development, retention and deployment of meritorious sportspersons against the existing 5% reservation earmarked for sportspersons in direct recruitment to Group 'C' ad Group 'D' posts.

The 'Draft Manipur Public Services Delivery Guarantee Rule 2026' was also approved by the Cabinet.

Its key features include online submission, processing, tracking, auto-appeal/ auto-escalation, real-time monitoring through a State dashboard and automatic flagging of delayed cases.

The Cabinet meeting also agreed to place the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (10th Amendment) Bill, 2026; introduce the Indian Stamp (Manipur Amendment) Bill 2026; and amend the Manipur Town and Country Planning Act, 1975 (Sixth Amendment) after introducing a Bill in the upcoming Assembly Session.
